Episode 01 - Future in Trouble? Chibi Usa Disappears
A dark figure moved through the emptiness of the king's chambers. An inhuman power emimated from a resting orb in the center of the room. As the orb began to glow an electricity filled the air. "Oh, great Erebus-sama," voiced the king. "I, your humble servant, beg for your help."
He pointed his staff to a golden capsule containing the body of a young, red haired woman. "My daughter lies in limbo. She needs the power of one shining soul to inhabit. I implore you!"
It was silent for a long time. Then, as a fog crept along the floor, a harsh voice echoed throughout the room. "I have weighed your request and this is no minor thing you ask of me. It will take a great deal of the energy I have been accumulating over these many years of sleep, but I trust your judgment. I shall grant you my strength. Reveal to me the one to be taken."
For a moment, the old king's eyes lit up. He waved his withered hand in the air and an image of a pink haired girl appeared between him and his master. "Hers is the soul I choose."
Usagi and Chibi Usa stared at one another as a cold chill shot through them. They began to relax, as the feeling passed. Suddenly, Chibi Usa's ice cream cone fell to the ground. Usagi was about to scold her, but the words caught in her throat. Horror-struck, Usagi found that Chibi Usa hands were becoming translucent, almost ghostly. The rest of her body soon followed, fading in and out. Chibi Usa dropped to the ground. Weak and scared, she tried to hold herself together. Panicking, Usagi frantically looked for Mamoru, but he was no where in sight. Chibi Usa called weakly to Usagi, her voice fading with her body. "Usagi... help... please... I need you..."
Her birthright appeared on her forehead, glowing with it's golden yellow light. Usagi unsure of what else to do lowered herself in front of Chibi Usa. Slowly, she closed her eyes. Her brow furrowed as she concentrated and the crescent moon appeared on her forehead. "Hold on Chibi Usa," Usagi whispered. "Don't leave me."
Their moons began to glow brightly as she harnessed all her powers. She tried desperately to keep Chibi Usa from disappearing, but the pull on her soul was too much. Usagi could feel her slipping away until finally Chibi Usa was gone.
At that same moment, the young woman in the capule disappeared. Long moments passed as the woman and Chibi Usa seemed to fuse together, body and soul. Steam filled the golden coffin, and when the pressure became too much, it burst open revealing the newly formed woman. She opened her red eyes and an eclipsed sun appeared on her forehead.
In a state of shock, Usagi placed her head on the spot where Chibi Usa had been and began to cry. Passers-by pretended not to see the crying girl and quickly scuttled off. Mamoru, who had just entered the park, ran to Usagi as soon as he caught sight of her on the ground. He knelt beside her and wrapped his arms around her. She felt fragile, as if she might fall apart if it were not for him holding her close to him. When she had calmed down a bit, he helped her up on the wooden bench beside them.
"Usako, what's wrong? Were you hurt? Attacked?" It was then he noticed Chibi Usa was not there. "Where... where is Chibi Usa?" He inquired, looking about him.
Usagi's face began to crumble. "Chibi Usa... she's gone... disappeared..." was all she managed to say before fresh sobs rocked her body.
"What do you mean? How could she have disappeared? Calm down. Stop crying, and tell me what happened," he prompted, his voice beginning to sound paniced.
Usagi could hear the growing fear in his voice. Gathering her wits, she took a shaky breath, then began to tell about what had occurred. When she had finished, Mamoru sat back in stunned silence. Several minutes passed without a word between them. Finally, Mamoru stood to his feet and took command. "Usako, use your communicator to call everyone. Tell them to meet us at the Hikawa Shrine, as soon as possible."
Usagi nodded, and after wiping fears from her eyes, she set to her task. Done, she gazed up at Mamoru. He smiled gently, his deep, blue eyes reassured her. "It'll be alright. Let's go." He took her hand as they headed towards the shrine.
"What!? Chibi Usa-chan vanished?" Minako exclaimed as Usagi ended reliving her story for the second time that day.
"Yes," Usagi answered. "I tried to hold on to her, but whatever took her was too strong. It felt like she was ripped apart from me."
Luna's ears perked up. "Ripped apart? Interesting..." She turned to Ami, who was typing on her mini-computer. "Do you have any information, yet?"
"I'm trying, Luna. Here it is! My calculations show a strange energy hit the earth at the same moment Usagi-chan says Chibi Usa-chan disappeared. Strangely enough, the source seems to have come from the sun."
"The sun? Could it possibly be a new enemy?" Makoto inquired, as she and Rei looked at the figures on Ami's
miniature computer. "So soon?"
Everyone exchanged looks that seemed to ask the same questions. Usagi looked away from the group, towards the setting sun. "Chibi Usa," she whispered. "I'll get you back.
I promise."
Monday morning came all too quickly and the school bells sounded. A tall, slender girl walked down the halls of Juuban Junior High School. Her hair was tied into a single bun on the top of her head, held only by a shimmery yellow bow. A long trail of loose orange-red hair flowered behind her. When she finally stopped, she stared at the door to the class she was to join. Reaching for the knob, she prepared herself for a new dimension of chaos. The moment she entered the room, she could sense the bright energy emerging from the students. An older woman approached her and called for the class' attention. "Class, I would like for you to meet our new transfer student, Taiyoukara Hogosha. Where did you say your family is from?"
Hogosha glared at her new teacher causing the older woman to take an almost unnoticed step back. "Far away...." Hogosha answered in her quiet, deadpan voice.
She stared at the floor, her eyes glowing bright red as she prepared to wipe her fellow classmates clean of their warm energy. Slowly she lifted her head. Just as she was about to raise her arms to collect the energy, another girl came crashing through the door, right into Hogosha bringing them both to the floor. A screaching noice came from the teacher, which Usagi recognized as a scolding for her lateness and chaotic entrance. Usagi was rewarded with a half-hour's worth of standing in the hall.
After school, Hogosha walked to a nearby tree and leaned against it for support. She closed her eyes and thought to herself, "How could I have gotten so weak so quickly? Can it be from my long sleep? I don't..."
Her thoughts ended abruptly when she realized there were others standing around her. She opened her eyes to see three girls with very concerned looks, one of them being the clumsy oaf who had knocked her down earlier in the day. "Hogosha-san, are you feeling alright? You look sick."
"Mind your own business," growled the girl.
Usagi, confused by Hogosha's lack of politeness, paused before she spoke up again. "Hogosha-san, I'm sorry for knocking you down this morning. I was really late and wasn't watching where I was going."
Only silence emanated from the girl but Usagi continued. "Um, I want you to meet two of my friends. This is Ami-chan..." She said pointing to the blue haired girl. "And this is Mako-chan," pointing with her other hand to the very tall, brown haired girl wearing a school uniform different from the others.
Unimpressed, Hogosha walked off without a word to any of them. When she was finally far enough away from the school and the nosy girl named Usagi, she turned a corner and headed for an alleyway. In the dark, nothing could be seen, except her deep red eyes. Three passing students, attracted by the light, stopped to stare. They were taken by surprise when three locks of fiery red hair grabbed them by the neck, and hurled them into the alley.
The students watched in horror as Hogosha's pupils disappeared. Her once innocent school uniform contorted into a black body suit. An eclipsing sun formed in the middle her forehead and chest. Golden chiffon, held by the broach on her chest, trailed down the length of her torso. The ribbon around her odango turned black, finishing her terrifying transformation.
Her hair glowed as she drained the energy from her screaming victims. Satisfied, she let them drop to the ground. She knelt by one of the unconscious girls and chuckled softly, "Silly little humans. Don't worry, I didn't take enough to really harm you. When you wake up you won't even remember."
Hogosha stood up. With her replenished, power she transported to a dark, empty room. The only light came from a set of yellow doors in front of her, a large man stood like a sentry beside them. His long light green hair was tied high on his head and he wore a dark green cloak that covered most of his silver breastplate. A silver half-mask covered his face. He approached Hogosha and offered his arm. "Thank you, Alpha Centauri," she cooed.
A bright light blinded the two as the door opened. When it ceased, they entered and found the king of the Eclipsed Sun Kingdom, Dionysus seated on a throne of pure gold. The old man called to his daughter, "Solaris, I commend you on the success of your first venture. You blended well as the student, Taiyoukara Hogosha."
"Hmph. I don't understand why you would praise her, father. She didn't manage to gather any energy for our master. How are we to succeed if she keeps taking it all for herself?" A woman's voice grumbled.
A young man and woman emerged from behind the king's throne. Both glared at Solaris with identical icy blue stares. Solaris' companion eyed them cautiously. "Guard your tongue, Polaris," Dionysus warned.
"She is right, father, but I could not help it! I had to take the energy for myself. I was too weak to even teleport here. My long sleep has made me weak," she explained. "I promise I will gather more."
"Your weakness is forgivable. I believe you will triumph in future attempts."
"I'll go now and find a sufficient energy source. Good-bye Father, Polaris, Vega," she released Alpha Centauri's arm and smiled. "Good-bye."
Solaris bowed as she exited. When she entered the next room, a large monitor appeared. She placed both hands on it and concentrated. "Show me where I might gather vast amounts of energy," she commanded.
The picture of a local arcade manifested on the screen. An evilly grin spread across Solaris's face. "Game Center Crown. Got ya!"
After school the following day, Hogosha walked towards the Game Center Crown. She whirled around suspiciously when she heard the sound of her name. Hogosha groaned when she saw Usagi standing behind her. "Where you going?" Usagi asked.
"Nowhere," Hogosha mumbled.
"Good! Then you can come with me."
Usagi grabbed Hogosha's arm and dragged her down the street. They finally stop in front of a loud building with automatic doors. "Are you crazy!? Pulling my arm like that! You could have broke..." Hogosha's words cut short when she noticed where they had arrived.
"You're always in a bad mood. I thought you could use some fun. Come on." Usagi walked into the arcade.
Several minutes went by before Hogosha followed. She saw Usagi had already sat down to play a game. The name on the side of the game was Sailor V and a girl in a sailor costume and mask decorated it. Unamused with Usagi's explanation of the rules, Hogosha left her.
She wandered around, watching children of all ages play agressively and mindlessly. She found a door in the back and slipped in without a word. She found herself face to face with a blond man with a gentle face. Surprised by him, she called out in another language. Black vapor entered the room and took the form of an awful black creature. After it had drained Motoki's energy, Hogosha told the youma to wait for her signal to attack the crowd. She headed out of the room to watch the people in the arcade once again.
Usagi, entranced by her game, became enraged when 'Game Over' flashed on the screen. She screamed at the inanimate machine until a red rose was placed in front of her face. She looked up to see Mamoru holding it, smiling. Thrilled by his romantic gesture, she completely forgot her anger and wrapped her arms around him. A high blush showed on his cheeks as she clinged to him greedily. "There's always a light in my life. So long as your with me, I can make it though anything," she said softly, a note of sadness in her voice.
Usagi let go of Mamoru and spying Hogosha, called her over to meet him. Hogosha joined them and tried to smile at the tall man. She deemed it a lost cause, though, when she realized she looked more like a horse than a pleasant person. After introductions had been made the couple invited her to walk with them. Her mission forgotten, she accepted. Once they were out on the street she broke free from the blond's mesmorizing kindness, and abruptly excused herself. She hurried around the corner of the Game Center Crown. When Hogosha was out of sight, Mamoru turned to Usagi. "I wondered why she was in such a rush. She seems a little rude. Why are you trying so hard to be friends with her, Usako?"
"I can't explain it. I just feel better when I'm with her. It almost feels as if Chibi Usa's with me." A tear fell down Usagi's cheek.
Mamoru squeezed her hand. "She does seem familiar, doesn't she?" He looked in the direction Hogosha had gone. "Reminds me of you both," he mumbled under his breath.
Usagi and Mamoru snapped to attention when they heard screams from inside the arcade. They ran back inside and discovered the cause of all the mischief. An odd monster stood in the middle of the room. Cables extended from it's body and wrapped around the customers, draining their energy.
After they made sure no one could see them, Usagi and Mamoru transformed into Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen. Jumping into action, Sailor Moon called out angrily. "You monster, who takes the fun from happy students trying to escape from school pressures, I will not forgive you! I am the pretty suited Sailor Soldier, Sailor Moon. In the name of the moon I will punish you!"
Tuxedo Kamen revealed a handful of long-stemmed rosed. "These people come here to relax and do not need someone like you ruining their day," he shouted as he flung the flowers foward. On target, they cut through several of the youma's deadly cables.
Suddenly, a young woman wearing a black and gold outfit, could be seen. She floated above the monster. "Sailor Moon? I have no time for such interruptions," Solaris frowned.
Her hair flew at the two good doers, and knocked them to the ground. Before they could stand to their feet, Solaris quickly turned her attention to the metallic beast. Her long hair wrapped around its body and absorbed all the energy it had collected from the civilians. She boasted through loud laughs, "It's too easy to take energy from these people. I should have all of Tokyo in a matter of days." She then disappeared.
Sailor Moon rose to her feet and used her Moon Spiral Heart Attack to finish off the weakened youma who was still stumbling about. It quickly burned into ashes that vanished with a gust of wind.
In a locked room Solaris stood alone. She fed the energy collected to a dark orb in the center of the holding. Both the orb and her eyes glowed bright red.
