Episode 13 - Sun Losing Hope? Two Soldiers Appear Once More

Two coinciding Kingdoms, ruling side by side. The Moon and Sun forever there to shine on the earth with their eternal lights.
What happens when the sun's light dies? Eclipsed with darkness, evil envelops the hearts of all who dwell there and chaos reigns...

In the Kingdom of the Eclipsed Sun, Alpha Centauri stared, unmoved at the image of Hogosha displayed on his computer screen. All night long he had tried to convince himself it was not true, but he knew his machine did not lie, he had created the machine himself after all. Hogosha's body was one which had enough strength to hold their ruler, Erebus. "How could this be? Her body had always seemed so fragile. Her stamina was constantly being challenged, so how could she possibly be a candidate host? No! I won't allow her be put is this kind of danger."

His fingers clacked against the large keyboard as he typed codes in furiously. As his mind raced, he thought to himself, hoping there was a way out of this problem. "Certainly there is someone else out there who is just as close to a match. Someone..."

Usagi ran down the street of Juuban, panting heavily as she tried to catch up with Hogosha. Finally reaching the lone girl, she was surprised to be brushed away by her. "I'm not really in the mood to clown around today, Usagi. Could you leave me alone?" Hogosha mumbled as she walked on.

With that, Hogosha left her shocked friend. "What is wrong with her? I don't get it. One day she is all happy and the next she so gloomy. Well, I'll cheer her up!"

Determined, Usagi followed behind, until they finally reached the Juuban Public Park. The blond girl watched as Hogosha walked to one of the benches, but did not sit down. She simply stood there. Upon closer inspection, Usagi noted that the girl looked as if she was in a trance, as if she was drawn to that spot. "What is she doing, just standing there? This is why she passed up a chance to hang out?" Memories of the day Chibi Usa disappeared entered her mind. "Why did she come here?"

Eventually, Hogosha moved on, further through the park. Slipping through the bushes and behind trees, Usagi followed along, curious now more than ever what her friend was doing. Usagi hid behind a large bush as Hogosha moved to the small dock. She strained her ears she Hogosha spoke softly to herself. "I won't ever be able to enjoy the cool breeze through my hair, or all the beautiful things this place has to offer, when I leave."

Usagi wondered, "Where is she going?"

About to go comfort her friend, a little nagging voice stopped her. She realized it was not her conscience, but the little black cat with a crescent moon spot on it's head. "Usagi-chan, you shouldn't be spying."

"But Luna, she seems depressed. I was only trying to see what was wrong."

Luna whispers turned hurried, "There are more important matters at hand. There's a local beauty parlor downtown. Young girls are going in, but not coming out. Anyone police who have gone in to investigate disappeared as well."

"Disappeared?"

"Yes, I believe this is a matter for the sailor soldiers. We have to check it out. The others have gone on ahead."

Usagi agreed, "Alright Luna, let's go."

Absorbed in her own sadness, Hogosha didn't feel the usual link she had with Usagi. Normally, she would have felt the exhilaration in Usagi's heart or Sailor Moon's transformation, but now she was off guard.

The Sailor Soldiers were already lined up in front of the building when Sailor Moon arrived. They quietly moved into the store. A good look around showed nothing out of the ordinary "Maybe they're all just having too fun a time shopping," Sailor Moon offered.

Mars smack her on the back of the head. "Stupid, Sailor Moon! They're not really there. It's just an illusion."

"You're so meaaan!" Moon whined.

Mercury snapped her mini-computer shut. "Mars is right... I just analyzed them, and they're not even human!"

Sailor Moon walked up to one of the ladies applying cream to her face. "She looks normal to me."

The moon soldier became confused as she watched her friends' expressions turn to terror. "What's wrong with you guys. I know it looks scary, but it's just facial cre--"

Sailor Moon's comment was cut short when she saw a yoma face grinning back at her. She screamed at the top of her lungs, jumping behind Venus.

"Vibrant LIGHTENING!" Jupiter called out, destroying the monster. The soldier's satisfaction disappeared when ten more took its place.

Sirius' form manifested in front of the sailor soldiers and he withdrew his sword slowly. Sailor Moon cowered in back of Venus even more. "This is not a time to be hiding," Mars scolded.

Jupiter stepped forward, demanding. "Where are all the people who came in here? What have you done with them?"

Sirius smirked, infuriating Jupiter all the more. "Answer me!" she yelled.

He raised his sword, calling, "Eclipsed Heat STORM!"

A bath of fire headed for the girls, but Mercury threw up her hands in reaction and yelled out "Liquid HARMONY!", freezing the attack.

"Psychic BLAZE!" Mars sent forth her own power, but Sirius blocked it.

"It seems we can only fend off his attacks. We aren't strong enough to hit him with our powers," Mercury stated.

"Then how about with our fists?" Sailor Jupiter charged at the man, taking several swings. He manage to blocked them all, then struck Jupiter directly in the stomach with the blunt end of his sword. She crashed into a wall, and crumpled to the floor.

"Jupiter!" the girls cried.

"There in no way for you to defeat me, sailor soldiers. However, I will not kill you, for one of you might be able to house our Great Ruler's soul." Sirius' eyes glinted with an evil light.

Mars frowned, "His soul? It seems our fight continues to be a spiritual battle."

She didn't have much time to think on her words, as a blast of warm energy flew at her. Mars tried to counter it with her Psychic Blaze, but only succeeding in causing the flames to spread everywhere around her. Unable to take the extreme heat their powers combined, Mars passed out. "Mars!" Sailor Moon cried.

Sirius stood over the fallen soldier and smiled. "Now, if you're all done playing, please accompany me into the back room and we can get the qualification process done quickly. Of course, those who don't pass will be destroyed, but if you cooperate I promise your death will be fast and painless."

Hogosha sat alone, staring out at the clear blue lake. Footsteps grew louder on the wooden dock as someone drew closer to her. It wasn't until the sounds had stopped that she turned a dreary glance behind her. A deep, soothing voice came down upon her. "What's troubling you, Hogosha-chan?"

His black hair and kind face were unmistakeable. She turned back to stare hard at the lake as he sat down beside her, his legs hanging off the edge of the pier. "Mamoru-san, what would you do if you had to go away when you were done with something and could never return?" The note of sadness was evident in her voice. A breeze slightly ruffled her hair, sending a cold chill down her spine.

Mamoru studied her for a long while, as if trying to read her thoughts. Finally, he sighed and smiled. "Well, I would live each of my days to their fullest where I was and try to do my job the best I could so that it would be remembered when I left."

"Really?"

"Yes, it's all anyone can do."

She flashed him a winning smile. "Thank you, Mamoru-san."

He couldn't help but notice the scratches and bruises all over her left leg as Hogosha jumped up. Before he could say anything she took off.

When no one was in sight Hogosha threw up her brooch, shouting, "Golden Aura Power, MAKE UP!" She, then, let her mind guide her to Sailor Moon.

Mamoru sat at the dock. He face grew dark as he wondered why Hogosha would pick this place to come and think. "It is quiet here, but it's also where Chibi Usa first appeared. It seems eerie in a way." Suddenly, his heart jumped. "Something's wrong! I can feel it. Usako..." Automatically, he ran in the same general direction as Hogosha had gone.

A fog had grown thick in the beauty parlor, obscuring the sailor soldiers' vision. Even Mercury's visor was having trouble seeing through the new atmosphere. They were defenseless as were loosing the battle swiftly. While they were occupied with weaving their way through the dense white smoke, Sirius towered over a breathless Sailor Moon. He pointed his sword at her throat. "I sense a great strength in you. Could you be the host we seek, Sailor Moon?"

"Leave her alone!" a voice echoed through the room.

Sirius whipped around, looking for the source of the command. "Who's there?"

The fog began to thin, as Sailor Sun stepped forward. She pointed her Luminous Star Rod at him, her eyes serious and angry. "I am Sailor Sun, sworn to defend all that are innocent. In the name of the Sun, I will see that you no longer use its golden light for evil. Go on, Sailor Moon! I'll take care of it from here."

Sailor Moon quickly moved away from Sirius to her friends. Jupiter and Mars were groggily awaking, while Mercury and Venus helped them up. The five stood together, their uniforms tattered and bodies bruised. Sirius chuckled, "No one is going anywhere."

He focused his strength on sealing the entrances. "There's no way out now."

Mercury scanned the doors with her visor. "He's telling the truth!"

Sailor Moon gasped, "What do we do now?"

"We have no choice," Venus answered. "We'll have to Teleport."

"What about Sailor Sun?" Moon looked at their fighting comrade.

"I'll be fine. Just go!" Sailor Sun urged.

"But--!" protested the blond soldier. Mars snatched Sailor Moon's hand and pulled her to the others. The soldiers formed a circle, each taking the other's hand. An iridescent light surround the girls as they harnessed their powers. Sailor Moon cast one last glace at her friend as the five called out in unison, "Sailor TELEPORT!"

Sirius lowered his deadly weapon as he turned from Sailor Sun. "Where do you think you're going?" Sun demanded.

He cast a cold glare over his shoulder. "I have no interest in fighting you. Sailor Moon is the one I want."

"You'll have to go through me first."

He swiped his sword across the open air between them. A warm burst of light knocked Sailor Sun off her feet and the man transported out of the store before she could even rise. The seal on the door and what was left of the fog dissipated with him. Sailor Sun didn't stay to watch as people slowly filed out of the back room. Instead, she ran out of the beauty parlor to find the other soldiers.

The girls had appeared in a remote area outside Juuban Public Park. Tuxedo Kamen showed up a few minutes after their arrival. "Are you alright?" he inquired.

They nodded, then Sailor Moon said, "Sailor Sun helped us get away, but we left her. Guys, we have to go back. Maybe we can figure a way to break through th--"

"Don't bother."

The group turned to find Sirius standing not but a few feet away. His annoyed expression shone clear, as he unsheathed his sword once again. "Enough time wasted, Sailor Moon. Give up now or I will destroy what you hold most dear!"

Sailor Moon remained where she was, stubborn. This only served to anger Sirius all the more. With a lift of his weapon all four of the sailor soldiers were brought to the ground. Tuxedo Kamen was knocked down as well, leaving Sailor Moon to fend for herself. Sirius jumped into the air, then sailed towards Sailor Moon. From off in the distance, a young woman's voice yelled, "Deep SUBMERGE!"

A tidal wave struck Sirius, stunning him. He searched for his attacker, finally finding two Sailor Soldiers he had never seen before, standing back to back.

They began their introductions. The blond spoke first, "My guardian deity is a planet far up in the sky... the soldier of sky... Sailor Uranus!"

Then it was her partner's turn. "My guardian deity is a planet with the sea of sand... the soldier of embrace... Sailor Neptune!"

"Brought to you by a new age..."

"...here we are!" They finished together.

"Uranus, Neptune!" Sailor Moon exclaimed. "What brought you here?"

"Sailor Pluto felt there was something wrong with Chibi Usa-chan, but she couldn't leave the Gates of Time-Space," Uranus explained.

Sailor Neptune smiled. "We came in her stead."

"More soldiers?" Sirius growled in disbelief.

From out of the darkness of the trees, Sailor Sun joined them. Uranus gave her a suspicious look, but turned her attention away from the newcomer when she saw the enemy readying an attack. "World SHAKING!" she shouted, sending a globe of energy at Sirius.

It threw him off guard long enough for Uranus to urge, "Sailor Moon, now!"

"Right!"

Sailor Moon took out her weapon, then directed it at the golden man. She began to yell her attack, but Sirius disappeared before she could finish. Sailor Sun headed towards Moon. She was about to put her hand on Sailor Moon's shoulder when Uranus stepped between them, "Stay away from her. Who are you?"

"I am Sailor Sun, protector of the princess." Her eyes softened slightly as she smiled at Moon. "Sailor Moon, I will protect you until my end. I promise. Good-bye."

She leaped out of sight, leaving Sailor Moon with Uranus and Neptune. The other soldiers, whom had recovered, joined the three. Sailor Moon ran to Tuxedo Kamen and helped him up. After all had a chance to say their greetings, Neptune turned to Sailor Moon. Her expression was serious as she cautioned, "You have to be careful about who you trust."

"But, she's always helping us," defended the moon soldier.

"Yeah," Venus joined. "Whenever we get into a tough spot she helps us out."

"How do you know she isn't working against you. She could be showing up just in time, in order to gain your confidence," Uranus insinuated.

Mercury shook her head. "She did increase our powers greatly. Do you think an enemy would do that?"

Uranus and Neptune looked to each other. "Well..." they said together.

"We can trust her," Sailor Moon assured.

Sirius kneeled before the king, accepting his just reprimanding. All the while, his mind was elsewhere. "I have to admit, collecting possible hosts all at once has proved useless. I will just steal that nuisance, Alpha Centauri's information. Maybe his ideas aren't all that bad."

The blond man was so lost in his thoughts that a slight grin appeared on his face. The gesture did not go unnoticed by Dionysus. The king's booming voice returned Sirius to his present situation. He bowed low in apology to his angered master.

Centauri sat thoughtfully in his computer room. He had recorded the day's battle in order to analyze the fighters. An image of Sailor Moon flashed on the screen and he stifled a laugh. Sirius has been on to something when he persued the soldier. His calculations showed that she was almost an exact match to Hogosha power level. An image of Sailor Sun opened on the screen as well, another match, this one even closer to the mark.

Centauri sent a new command into the computer. This time, he took the two matches and began tearing away the layers, determinted to unveil their true identities. "This will make our search all that much easier," he thought while waiting for the results.

Slowly an image of Tsukino Usagi loaded, as the true identity of Sailor Moon. Centauri's face blanched as Sailor Sun was revealed. He stared at the picture of Hogosha, disbelieving. "It can't be..."
