Episode 14 - Shadowy Princess! Secrets of the Moon Kingdom

Two coinciding Kingdoms, ruling side by side. The Moon and Sun forever there to shine on the earth with their eternal lights.
What happens when the sun's light dies? Eclipsed with darkness, evil envelops the hearts of all who dwell there and chaos reigns...

The next day, the front steps of the Hikawa Shrine were filled. The girls had decided to hold a meeting to inform Haruka and Michiru on what had been happening recently. "So, Chibi Usa-chan disappeared right before these creatures started showing up?" Michiru wondered out loud after they had finished explaining.

"And they claim to come from the Sun," Luna added.

Haruka, who stood next to Michiru, looked away from the group in silence. She glanced back at Michiru, when she felt a hand gently squeeze her own. Concern showed on her partner's face. Haruka couldn't hold her tongue any longer. "When did this new sailor soldier come into the picture?"

Minako answered, "Right after Hogosha-chan recovered from the enemy's influence."

"Right after..." Haruka frowned.

Just then, Hogosha walked by with Yuuichirou, carrying a mop and a bucket of water. She smiled cheerily at the group, but felt something odd when she neared the handsome, blonde boy. She narrowed her eyes trying to place where she knew him. Usagi brightly began introductions, "Hogosha-chan, this is Michiru-san and Haruka-san. They're friends of ours."

Hogosha set down the bucket she was carrying and looked to Yuuichirou who's face was turning bright red. "Go on ahead of me, okay? I'll be right there."

She noticed him staring at a highly embarrassed Rei, and elbowed him gently. Snapping out of his trance, he shrugged and left the girls alone. Hogosha bowed to the couple. "Nice to meet you."

Haruka stared at the fiery haired girl, unable to shake the feeling they had met before. A vision of Sailor Sun speaking to Sailor Moon overlappedthe girl in her mind and everything seemed to match. Even the way this girl held to the mop was the same as when Sailor Sun held her staff. Not sure if her suspicions were right, Haruka tried to pry information from Hogosha. "So, where are you from?"

"I'm a transfer student. Rei-san is allowing me to stay here for now, but I might be leaving soon."

Usagi's ears perked. "Hogosha-chan, you're leaving?"

"I'm sorry, Usagi. I was going to say something about it to you later. I... I really can't hang out with you now or I'll never get these chores done here. Good-bye!"

Before Rei could tell her not to worry, Hogosha ran off. The two older girls' suspicions rose. As Luna pushed their meeting forward, they kept silent of their thoughts on the girl.

A few hours had passed before the meeting came to an end. Everyone except Usagi headed to their separate homes. Still worried about what Hogosha had said, she went in search of her. Usagi discovered her in the shrine, praying. "Hey, Hogosha-chan."

"Oh! Usagi," she returned, slightly startled. She took a deep breath as she prepared herself for the inevitable. "I suppose you've come to find out why I said I was leaving."

"Well, yeah. That and I was thinking about going to get some ice cream. You want to come along?" Usagi inquired.

"That would be nice."

After purchasing their cones, the girls headed to the park. By the time they got there, both had finished her ice cream and Hogosha had reassured her friend that she may not be leaving too soon. "Your friends seems very mature for their age. Though, that boy was acting extremely suspicious of me today," Hogosha commented.

Usagi gave her a confused look. "Boy?"

"Haruka was his name, I think."

"Silly! Haruka is a girl." Usagi giggled at the surprised expression on her friend's face.

"You're kidding, right?"

"Nope."

Hogosha smiled at the fact that she had been fooled, then turned serious. "Does Mamoru-san make you happy, Usagi?"

"Of course he does," she said blushing.

Hogosha sighed, "I sometimes wonder if I'll ever find a love that was meant to be, like the love you have."

"I'm sure your guy is out there. He's just waiting for the right time to show up," Usagi assured her.

Suddenly, a loud crash sounded inthe distance and was followed by a swiftly approaching flashing green light. Hogosha managed to hide in time before a rather large green haired man appeared, but Usagi stood still, gaping. "You..." He pointed at the blond. "You are an almost perfect match to hold our great ruler, Erebus-sama, within your body. Give yourself up willing and the pain endured will not be unbearable, Tsukino Usagi, no, Sailor Moon."

"Who are you?" she demanded, horrified that he knew her identity.

"I am Alpha Centauri, one of the Star Warriors from the Eclipsed Sun Kingdom."

Hogosha could see the debate reflecting on Usagi's face. Whether or not she should transform in front of the new enemy. "I've got to help her somehow. Please let this work."

Hogosha cleared her thoughts. Concentrating, she called to the others, "Please, Sailor Moon needs help. Come quickly to the Juuban Public Park!"

She repeated the plea many times in her mind, hoping it would reach Sailor Moon's companions. Finished, she looked back to Usagi, but Sailor Moon now stood in her place. "I am the pretty suited sailor soldier who fights for love and justice, Sailor Moon. In the name of the moon, I will punish you!"

"You don't scare me pretty soldier. I will take you back with me."

"Don't be so sure!" Sailor Moon shouted, ready for the battle.

In the Eclipsed Sun Kingdom, Sirius snuck into the computer room and switched on the monitor. Pulling up his rival's last running program, he found access to the information of Centauri's search. A picture of Sailor Moon/Usagi appeared on the screen, but it was noted that she was second choice host. Sirius dug deeper into the files, searching for the top match. His eyes widened in surprise as an image of Sailor Sun/Hogosha was revealed.

"Got you! You cannot protect your little princess anymore, Centauri." Sirius grinned at the screen, his eyes filled with satisfaction.

Sailor Moon and Alpha Centauri were in a face off. They had fought fierce, and Moon felt as if she would collapse. "He's strong," she thought.

Green light burst from Centauri's hands, as he called upon his "Dark Star Shock," but Sailor Moon was knocked away before it could hit her. She looked up and marveled at her savior. Sailor Jupiter grinned as she held her close. Jupiter released her friend from her protective embrace and moved to join the others who stood close behind.

Each took a turn attacking Centauri to no avail. Mercury scanned him with her visor. "He has some sort of a shield around him! So far, I can't detect any weaknesses in the barrier."

At that moment, Neptune, Uranus, and Tuxedo Kamen showed up, overwhelming the Star Warrior. Not liking the odds he was no up against, he rushed at Sailor Moon. Grabbing her, he prepared to transport back to the Sun, but a voice stopped him in his tracks. He was disheartened to hear the angry words thrown at him and turned his head toward a high wall just out of the park. "Let her go, you masked freak!"

Sailor Moon squinted her eyes, trying to get a better view, "Sailor Sun, you're here!"

Sailor Sun called out to Centauri, "Star of the Sun Kingdom, how dare you use it's golden light for evil! Darkness has clouded your soul and I am here to cleanse it! I am the soldier of the Day Star and on behalf of the Sun, I will punish you!"

"Princess..." Centauri knelt before her, letting go of Sailor Moon.

Sailor Sun frowned, thinking how bad it must look. "Great!" she thought, "The last thing I need is for them to think he takes orders from me."

She growled at him, "I am NOT your princess. I am merely a guardian who is here to stop your evil ways!"

"No, you are my princess."

Too quickly for Sailor Sun to react, he leapt onto the wall and moved in close to her. Overpowered by the giant of a man, she was unsure what to do as he placed his hand to her cheek. He removed his mask, then leaned towards her. He spoke softly, "Now remember..." Their lips touched in a kiss.

An odd sensation shot throughout her body. She could feel her clothes contort, lengthening into a billowing, golden-white dress. A cool breeze teased her hair, causing it to dance in the wind, then fall about her slender shoulders. Sailor Sun grimaced as strange images and memories filled her mind. Her eyebrows furrowed as she pulled away.

Rays of the setting sun sparkled against her, as she began to speak in a hypnotic voice, "I am your princess, Hyperion. Oh... How I remember only too well. I was born to the Sun at a time of great secrecy for my family. A time when the Moon Kingdom, Silver Millennium, thrived in the height of its glory. Attracted to its peace and beauty, I often snuck away to the Moon, but ever hiding in the shadows. That was the way it has always been. That was the price I had to pay for my father's evil deeds. The only person who knew of my existance there was the benevolent ruler of that world, Queen Serenity. As my mentor, she alone understood how I hated the evil to which I was born. She was the one who blessed me with the name Hyperion."

"I remember the day I discovered my father's plot for revenge against the queen who had banished him to the Sun. A cowardly man, he had been consulting with a great force called Metallia, giving her vital insight on the kingdom's weaknesses. After hearing this, I went to Queen Serenity as quickly as I could, though by the time I had learned of this plot, too much had already been set into motion. How sad her face had been as we stood in her prayer room. The floor between us had opened and a small pillar rose from the darkness of the hole. Hovering above the pillar was a small circular golden stone with a crescent moon around it."

"I had stared in awe as she placed the crystal in my hand. 'Here...' she had said, 'Now is the time for you to receive what is rightfully yours. This stone is the Golden Aura. I trust you will use if wisely and justly. Hyperion, watch over the princess for me. Don't let the dark forces take her. Protect her for me, please...'"

"Her eyes had been so desperate as she pleaded. I knew in that moment my true destiny, to protect those who stood for everything the moon stood for: peace, happiness, and love. I went in search of Princess Serenity, and found her dancing in a beautfully lit ballroom. It was the night of a grand masquerade. Although the man she was with wore a mask to hide his face, I knew it was her true love, Prince Endymion. There was no mistaking his regal air."

"I secretly watched them for a long while, as I had always watched them. My heart pounded hard as I prayed that I would be able to protect them when the time came. Then I looked at the stone the queen had given me. 'This crescent lock around the Golden Aura... The queen contained the power of this crystal for a reason, but the time has come. I must be ready to protect the princess.'"

"I unsnapped the crescent moon that was locked around it and held the separated pieces, one in each hand. My whole body had felt so warm as the golden stone entered my chest. Just like a void in me had been filled. The lock, the piece that might contain and control the power now inside me disappeared into the moon princess. It was then my vision blurred. When it cleared I found myself standing back in the throne room of the Sun Kingdom. Standing around King Dionysus were his four warriors. I demanded to know why they had taken me away from the moon, but they just smirked, knowing the futility of what I had done. That is everyone, except Alpha Centauri. Oh... my Centauri, always protecting me."

"Dionysus had told me I must join them once and for all. He said I should join the winning side. When I argued with him, defending the stregth of the Moon people, there was only laughter. I remember terrible satisfaction on her face when Polaris told me the moon was already being destroyed. Metallia and her Dark Kingdom were destroying everything, planning to take the Moon and Earth for themselves. I had wanted to know why they had brought me back to the Sun and I had received my answer. Had they planned to make good with the new rulers of the inhabited planets or to overthrow them after the war was finished? I didn't care. I spat at her feet and told her I'd never give into their rule."

"'Fine! Then die!' she screamed at me as she threw two of her ice spears. Alpha Centauri jumped in front of me to stop them. Blood sprayed on my dress as the spears slashed across his face. I didn't even stay long enough to see if he was alright. Blind fear had taken over. Instead, I took the chance to get away and transported to the moon. My journey was too long, and it was too late by the time I got there. I had failed. The kingdom was destroyed and the princess floated in the air lifeless among many others. I had failed! I hated what my father had done, but even more I hated myself for letting it happen."

"I suppose it was that hate of the tragedy before me which allowed the twins to infect me. Polaris and Vega had followed me to the Moon. They taunted me, making my anger all the worse before using their shade powers. The pain of the shade had been horrible, and through it I heard Queen Serenity's voice. 'Watch over the princess for me... Don't let the dark forces take her. Protect her...'"

"Then the voice was gone. A cold voice interrogated me, asking once again who it was that I served. I had said, 'King Dionysus, ruler of the Eclipsed Sun.' Those were the only words I can remember before all that existed of me vanished completely. It was not until my awakening as Sailor Sun could I begin to piece together who I was."

Her story finished, Hyperion turned to Alpha Centauri. She gently touched the two scars on his face and he gave her a small smile. Then his large hands gently cupped hers. "My princess... Princess Hyperion, you have returned," he whispered.

He opened his arms to embrace her, the one he had longed for, but as Centauri did so a blast of heat knocked him off the wall. The weakened warrior landed on the ground with a loud plop. Sirius manifested in the air, sword drawn. He grabbed the distracted princess, and pressed the blade to her throat. "You've always tried to protect her, Alpha Centauri. What are you going to do now? For shame that you would try to get a second rate match to take her place."

"Hey!" Sailor Moon yelled.

Sirius ignored her. "Dionysus-sama will be very displeased when he hears the news. We'll be waiting for you on the Sun."

Sirius' evil laugh echoed as he disappeared with the princess. Alpha Centauri was left to lay in defeat. His face reflected the sorrow of his heart. The soldiers gathered close to him "I think it's time you all knew the full truth."
