HYPERION
Hyperion was the Titan of light and a son of Uranus and Gaia. He is married to his sister Theia and was the father of the sun, the moon, and the dawn. Three children named - Helios, Selene and Eos. The name Hyperion means "he who goes before the sun" and may have arisen because he was sometimes thought of as the sun.
SELENE (Serenity)
Selene is the goddess of the moon. She bore Zues a daughter - Pandia and allowed herself to be seduced by Pan for a good piece of fleece. Her great love was Endymion. Some say he was a shepard but others say he was a king of Elis, either version he has been described as handsome. She bore him 50 daughters. Still love struck she offered to grant him a wish. He asked to sleep forever without aging, thus retaining his youth for all time.
ENDYMION
Endymion was the son of Aethlius, son of Zeus, and Calyce. He is usually described as a king of Elis. He was loved by the moon, Selene, and this is usually explained as the fact to which his name alludes, since it derives from endyo, "to go in', 'enter' (the same verb as Latin induco), this referring to the moon's seduction of the setting sun which 'enters' the sea, or else allude to the cave where Endymion met the moon. (In Hesiod's
Theogony Night and Day live alternately in the same building, and some accounts tell of Endymion being a hunter who hunted at night and slept in a cave by day, so was thus always thought to be asleep.) So maybe it is the moon that 'enters' Endymion, or perhaps it is Endymion who finds himself 'entered', that is, encompassed or 'bathed' by his love the moon. The reference to sleep could be significant, too, since Selene put Endymion to sleep for ever so that he should not die.
EREBUS
In the begining there was only chaos. Then out of the void appeared Erebus, the unknowable place where death dwells, and Night. All else was empty, silent, endless, darkness. Then somehow Love was born bringing a start of order. From Love came Light and Day. Once there was Light and Day, Gaea, the earth appeared. Then Erebus slept with Night, who gave birth to Ether, the heavenly light, and to Day the earthly light. Then Night alone produced Doom, Fate, Death, Sleep, Dreams, Nemesis, and others that come to man out of darkness. [Nyx was a goddess of night. She was a daughter of Chaos. She married Erebus.]
DIONYSUS
He was the Greek god of wine, corresponding to the Roman Bacchus. His parents are generally stated to be Zeus and Semele.(According to some sources, too, his parents are said to have been Nisus and Thyme, with the former's name being incorporated into his own.) The Phrygian form of his name was Diounsis: the first part of this may possible relate to dio-, 'of the gods', but the latter part is almost certainly not Nysa (as mentioned) but perhaps a word nyso- related to Greek neos, 'new', 'young' or nyos 'daughter in law'. In other words we can perhaps suggest a meaning along the lines of 'divine son'. He was often seen with the mythical beings known as Centaurs around him.
SIRIUS
Sirius was the favorite dog of Orion, the hunter (and
also, apparently, of Orestheus). He was placed in the
heavens as Canis Major, the Dog Star, where he was the
brightest star in the sky. His name is said to derive
from seirios, 'hot', 'scorching', since he appeared in
the night sky at the time of greatest heat, July and
August, and it was thought that this heat came from
Sirius, not the sun. The Romans called him Canicula,
'little dog', in an affectionate manner, but they also
noticed that he appeared at the hottest time of year,
and this give the English expression 'dog days' (Latin
dies caniculare.)
POLARIS
The star we call the North Star, or Polaris, is a star that is located almost directly over the North Pole of the Earth. All other stars appear to "move" through the sky as the Earth spins and the night goes on.
For the reason of being located over the North Pole we made her to be an icy character. She was given "cold" nature and freezing ice powers.
VEGA
Another name for this star is Wega. These names probably derive from the Arabic name, Al Nasr al Waki, "The Eagle with Partially Closed Wings." This was the name assigned to a group of three stars in Lyra, including Vega. Vega or Wega derives from Waki. Other names for Vega are Fidis, Fides or Fidicula, which are other Latin words for a harp or a lyre. Vega is also known as The Harp Star.
The part about the eagle with partically closed wings found meaning in our story. If you read you can find that Vega always watches his sister and kind of never fully speads his own "wings" but hoping that Polaris will fly. Think of the song wind beneath my wings and you will understand where we are going with this ^_^
ALPHA CENTAURI
The other name for this star is Rigel Kentaurus which derives from the Arabic Al Rijl al Kentaurus, "The Centaur's Foot." This is often shortened to Rigil Kent. The stars of the Rigel Kentaurus system represent the nearest stars to the earth other than the sun. This star is slightly larger in mass and diameter than the sun, and slightly more luminous.
Due to it being the closest star to the earth besides the sun, it was only natural that our character would be loyal to the sun and its guardian. And as for it being larger it also came into play if you have ever seen one of our pictures of him. He is huge. And the Centaur's Foot, he is one of the higher-ups for Dionysus who was associated with Centaurs in mythology which makes him closer to King Dionysus in our story.
